PP-O-12-06012 mm Polypropylene Strapping, Virgin (Original), 0.60 mm
200 kg · 2500 m

Printing strapping prepares pallets of finished printed sheets, bundles of books, magazines and catalogs, and brochure cartons for shipping. PP strap is what we recommend for this light to medium work.
The edge of a printed sheet crushes easily under a tight strap and takes a mark, and that mark comes back as a damage claim. Put edge protectors on the pallet corners and top, and run the strap over them. On book and magazine bundles, keep tension below the point where the spine bends.
A bundle strapping machine suits the bindery and packing line; semi-automatic tables or manual banding work for pallet shipments. Start with 1/2 in × 0.024 in (12 × 0.60 mm) virgin PP at 441 lbf (200 kg), and move to 1/2 in × 0.031 in (507 lbf / 230 kg) as pallets get heavier. If a publisher or distributor abroad sets an EN 13394 or ASTM D3950 requirement for strap, note it on your quote request.

Without edge protectors and at high tension, it can. Use protectors and lower the tension; if marks persist, move the band to a sturdier edge of the sheet stack.
Thin, light bundles do fine with 5/16 in or 3/8 in PP (8 or 9 mm); for thick catalogs and heavy book bundles, go up to 1/2 in. In our catalog, 5/16 in × 0.024 in (8 × 0.60 mm) virgin PP is 287 lbf (130 kg) and 1/2 in × 0.024 in is 441 lbf (200 kg).
Pallet or bundle size, weight and how delicate the print is are all we need to name the PP size for your job.
