Pallet Strapping for Logistics and 3PL

Pallet strapping secures mixed pallets that are built in the warehouse, change hands at cross-docks and go into containers. For a warehouse that handles many load types in one operation, stocking 1/2 in embossed PET and 1/2 in PP together keeps things simple.

The weak spot of a mixed pallet

Cartons on a mixed pallet differ in size and weight. Stretch film holds the surface, but top layers can shift under forklift and container shocks. Strap ties the load to the pallet base, and the more often a pallet changes hands, the more that matters. PET for heavy, long-haul pallets; PP for light carton pallets.

Flexibility at the dock

In a 3PL warehouse the work changes every day; a battery-powered tool works at any dock door without a fixed machine. PET's main color is green, with black and clear as options; PP comes in five standard colors and in custom colors on request. Color is an easy way to sort pallets by customer or route. If a customer specification cites ASTM D3950 or EN 13394, mention it in your quote request.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need strap on top of stretch film?

Film holds the cartons together; strap ties the pallet to its base against handling forces. In containers and on pallets that change hands several times, use both.

Can one tool band both PET and PP?

Many battery tools handle both materials with an adjustment, but the width and thickness range varies by model. Check that your tool lists 1/2 in PET and PP.
