Flexible Packaging Strapping
Flexible packaging strapping secures film rolls and cartons of bags and pouches to the pallet. The loads are light to medium, which makes PP strap the economical choice.
Rolls roll, cartons slide
A film roll is a cylinder and tends to roll on the pallet; secure rolls with chocks and strap together. On bag and pouch cartons, strap keeps the carton layers from sliding. Keep tension low where the strap touches the roll surface, because the film wraps can take a strap mark.
Virgin or recycled PP?
Both grades reach 441 lbf (200 kg) at 1/2 in × 0.024 in; they differ in raw material, color, roll length and machine fit. Virgin PP comes in five standard colors on 8,202 ft (2,500 m) rolls; recycled PP is white on 4,593 ft (1,400 m) rolls. Does recycled PP run on automatic machines?
Our product data lists recycled PP for semi-automatic and manual banding. Use virgin PP on an automatic machine; its longer roll also means fewer roll changes.
How do I route the strap on a roll pallet?
Under the pallet deck and over the chocks that hold the rolls, with a cardboard protector where the strap meets the roll. The roll stays put and the film surface is protected.
