Corrugated Carton and Box Strapping
Carton and box strapping holds together bundles of corrugated boxes and sheets leaving the die-cutter or folder-gluer, as well as pallets of board. PP strap suits this work, since its tension is easy to set below the point where the flutes crush.
Tension is the real setting
Corrugated board has limited crush resistance; a tight strap crushes the edge and lowers the box's stacking strength. Keep bundle tension low and run the strap over the load-bearing edges of the bundle. For pallet shipments, corner boards protect the edges of the top-tier boxes.
On the line and in the warehouse
The bundle strapper is often tied to the outfeed of the die-cutter or folder-gluer; use virgin PP on that automatic line. Recycled PP is white at the same 1/2 in × 0.024 in size and is an economical choice for manual or semi-automatic banding. If an export customer names a standard such as EN 13394 for strap, we will go over the measuring method when we quote.

Frequently asked questions
What if the strap crushes the corrugated boxes?
Lower the machine's tension setting and check that the strap sits on the bundle edge. If the problem continues, switch to a wider strap, which spreads the same tension over more surface; 5/8 in × 0.031 in virgin PP is 595 lbf (270 kg) in our catalog.
Do board pallets need PET?
PP is enough for most board loads; PET's higher strength is not needed here, and high tension can crush the board. For very heavy pallets, try 1/2 in × 0.031 in virgin PP (507 lbf / 230 kg) first.
