Can and Bottle Pallet Strapping

Can and bottle pallet strapping secures tiers of empty cans and bottles, and pallets of filled cans and beverages, together with tier sheets and a top frame. We recommend PP strap here, because it flexes with a tall, light stack.

Tall, light stacks

An empty can or bottle pallet is tall and light; tier sheets separate the layers and a top frame goes on top. The strap ties the frame to the pallet and keeps the tiers from sliding. Tension should neither crush the cans nor stress the bottles, and PP's flexibility makes that setting easier.

On the filling line

On can-making and filling lines, pallets often pass an automatic strapper. Virgin PP runs on that machine; keep recycled PP for pallets banded semi-automatically or by hand. For heavy filled pallets, 1/2 in × 0.031 in (12 × 0.80 mm) virgin PP at 507 lbf (230 kg) is the next step. For beverage exports, tell us if the buyer's packaging specification relies on EN 13394.

Frequently asked questions

Will the strap crush empty cans?

At high tension the top-tier cans and the tier sheet will crush. Use a top frame, start with low tension and raise it while checking the first pallets.

PET or PP for glass bottle pallets?

PP is enough for empty glass bottle pallets. On heavy filled beverage pallets or long hauls, 1/2 in embossed PET adds a safety margin; in our catalog, 1/2 in × 0.028 in embossed PET is 661 lbf (300 kg).
